Who’s Storm

Close-up selfie of a woman with long dark wavy hair, smiling, in a room with wooden shelves, plants, and boxes in the background.

I’m the human behind the lens, the screen, and sometimes the DJ booth. A creative producer who’s obsessed with capturing the awesome — whether that’s turning a brand into a scroll-stopper, filming a short doco that makes people cry (in the best way), or spinning tracks at Gay Skate with a disco ball overhead and skates on my feet.

A vintage photograph of four people on a boat near the water at sunset, with two adults and two children. The scene shows a calm water surface and a boat steering wheel.
A sepia-toned collage featuring a man in a hat and shorts sitting on a sandy beach, talking to a young girl wearing a sun visor and shorts, with large rocks in the background.
I didn’t own shoes until I was 9

Story time….

I grew up in Far North Queensland, sailing on hand-built yachts, remote tropical islands, reefs, beaches, a steady diet of wild-caught food and stories.

Some firsts:
First shoes at age 9.
First time eating store-bought chicken at age 7.
First colour TV at age 10 (1988).
First Skates at age 12

Fast-forward a few years, and I’ve produced campaigns for Domino’s, Tradelink, Skate Victoria and Crazy Skate Co., created heartfelt content for GIVIT, and rolled into countless queer and community projects that light me up.

I’m proudly LGBTQIA+SB, and I’ve been lucky to create with my own community (shoutout to Gay Skate, Roller Derby, Brisbane and Logan Pride organisations, and late-night skate/dance floors) as well as remote First Nations communities where cultural safety and respect come first.

Double Trophy Roll: Gay Skate x Queen’s Ball 🛼🏆

As co-founder of Gay Skate Brisbane, I’m absolutely stoked that our crew took out Community Sporting Group of the Year at the world’s longest-running queer awards, the 64th Queens Ball Awards, hosted by Brisbane Pride. Two years in a row. Inclusive wheels, bold stories, community magic.

As Seen on the ABC 🌈

Proud moment! I was featured nationally by ABC Queer, ABC Sport and ABC Brisbane for co-founding Gay Skate, bringing rainbow vibes, music, and community to the rink, and showing what visibility on wheels can really mean.

Double awards in one night

We’re celebrating! 🎉 As co-founder of Gay Skate Brisbane, I’m absolutely pumped that we took home Group of the Year and Event of the Year at the Trans Community Awards 2025, making space on wheels for our trans and gender-diverse fam, and proving inclusive fun can also win trophies.

One woman has dark hair and is wearing a white crop top with pink and blue text and pink shorts, while the other woman has blonde hair, glasses, a tattooed arm, and is wearing a white T-shirt with bold, colorful text.

🎙️ Podcast Feature

I jump into the mic as a guest, talking about co-founding Gay Skate Brisbane, creating inclusive spaces on wheels and behind the camera, and building stories that hit hard and feel good. Tune in as we go behind the scenes of community storytelling, brand visuals and queer joy.

🎙️ On Air with 4ZZZ

Storm Jury joined the legendary community station 4ZZZ on their Tranzmission show to talk all things Gay Skate, queer joy on wheels, and creating safe, inclusive spaces for our community. Because when it comes to visibility, sometimes the best place to start is behind a mic. 🌈🛼
